Once you start an email newsletter, do you have to keep sending it out?

    By Karen Skidmore | July 9, 2008

when to send email newslettersOnce you get started with an email newsletter, there is often a feeling of obligation to keep sending one out.

I received an email from one How to do Email Newsletters subscriber yesterday stating that, because of a change with franchise she was working under, she was going to have to re-brand but was worried about sending out an email newsletter in the meanwhile.

Email newsletters are an excellent way of building relationships with potential customers, but if you haven’t anything to specifically offer, promote or ask for help on, then it is pointless putting yourself under pressure to write and send one out.

For an email newsletter to actively grow and build your business, each one needs to have a call to action.  If you haven’t got a real business reason to send one out (and I don’t mean a sales pitch here!), then don’t send one out.  Give yourself a break and, I promise you, your subscribers won’t realise.  If they do wonder “where you’ve gone” for a few weeks, then that’s a good thing, surely!
